Why we started The Hearing Specialist

When I was working for a previous company I went to visit a 90-year-old housebound patient - she was unable to travel into the hearing centre and have her ears cleaned or tested, so I was sent to help.
When I arrived we chatted and I learned that as a result of her being stuck at home, she had been left unable to hear for over a decade. It dawned on me that in the Surrey area, there was little to no people doing what I do now: audiological visits within the comfort of the patient's home.
For the patient it meant a low quality of interaction with family, no enjoyment of TV and other forms of media but most importantly - safety was becoming an issue.
When I removed a build-up of earwax she was so delighted and the procedure changed her personality entirely. A completely new outlook on life was found through something as simple as earwax microsuction. Making such an impact on someone's quality of life is one of my honest motivations for opening The Hearing Specialist. I wanted to offer a service that my then-employer was not: home visits hearing appointments for the housebound.
