Otoscopic examination
A careful inspection of the ear canal and eardrum. Should ear wax be found to be affecting your hearing, we will advise you before any testing takes place.
Pure-tone audiometry
Precise measurement of each ear’s hearing thresholds across the full speech-frequency range, conducted in a quiet consultation room.
Your results, explained
A considered explanation of your results, together with a written report and your audiogram — yours to keep, and to share with your GP should you wish.

Should your results indicate that hearing instruments would be of benefit, our recommendation is drawn from the full range of leading manufacturers — Oticon, Phonak, Signia, Widex and GN ReSound among them — and made solely on clinical grounds. Hearing aids begin from £798 and include a seven-day home trial. Equally, if instruments are not indicated, we will tell you so.

Gentle microsuction under direct vision, without water or syringing. From £60 — at present, both ears are treated for the single-ear fee with code 20OFF.

Frequently asked questions
How long should I allow for the assessment?
Approximately one hour. A diagnostic assessment of this depth cannot responsibly be compressed into a brief screening.
Do I require a GP referral?
No. Appointments may be booked directly, online or by telephone. With your consent, we will provide your GP with a copy of your report.
Is the assessment free for over-65s?
Until 31 August, patients aged 65 and over receive the complete assessment without charge or obligation — quote code FREEHT when booking.
What happens if ear wax is discovered?
Where wax is obscuring the picture, it can usually be removed by microsuction during the same visit (from £60), allowing your hearing to be assessed accurately once the canal is clear.
When is the Croydon clinic open?
The Addiscombe clinic runs on Thursdays, 10am–2pm. Should you need an earlier appointment, our Wallington clinic (Tue–Sat) is a short drive away.
